VERY BAD PREMIERE: Capping Off A Brilliant Year, Seattle Artist, Sadistik Delivers His Ghoulish New Single

Let’s be honest, there’s a stigma attached to calling yourself independent in Hip-Hop these days. The reason is because of what we refer to as, “fake independents,” or “Industry Plants,” meaning while they aren’t publicly acknowledged by the label — or corporation — as being signed, the resources and opportunities they’re awarded don’t line up with what most independent artists experience, even the best ones.

Hailing from the school of the latter, Seattle rapper, Sadistik is a real independent. Meaning, every single cost of being an artist — touring, recording, promotion, legal fees, etc — falls squarely on his shoulders. If a sample needs to be cleared, it’s from his pocket. If a song needs to be re-recorded or mixed, it’s food from his mouth. Nobody else. Yet still, he gets it done. In 2013, his sophomore LP, Flowers For My Father actually charted, while his most recent project, Haunted Gardens, nearly did the same and drew critical acclaim from many outlets.

Still, as any real indie artist will tell you, the work is never over. Looking to stay consistent and serve as a beam of light for indies everywhere, Sadistik drops off the premiere to his new single, “Pet Sematary,” a Halloween-themed drop that showcases Sadistik’s lethal lyrical…
