Southern California has been going through its own renaissance lately. Seems like to be labels favorite picking grounds right now, everybody is searching for new LA artists. With that being said a lot of sounds are being recreated and rehashed, and scenes can get saturated like that. Insert Robtwo, a silent force, a glue in the big class project that is Los Angeles music. His sound is original and intoxicating, short projects and singles only leave you wanting more. He’s produced for some of LA’s most buzzing artists such as 03 Greedo & Azchike. It’s very likely Robtwo is one of your favorite rapper/producers favorite rapper/producers. We got to get a few words in with Bellflower, California’s finest.

Lee: Tells us about who you are & where you’re from

Rob: I go by the name of robtwo, artist/producer from Bellflower, CA.

Lee: What made you get into music?

Rob: My whole life I’ve been surrounded by music, my pops is a musician & moms can sing a little bit. I started making beats when I was 15 but I really wasn’t that good so I tried rapping but that wasn’t for me at the time. I was still playing sports in high school so it wasn’t really on my mind to make music until I got cut from the sports program and kicked out of my high school. So I figured shit let me hop in this game since it’s already in me.

Lee: What inspired the new sound & new project?

Rob: I wouldn’t say the sound is new, it’s been tucked away just tryna get perfected. But I have been listening to a lot of T-Pain, learning how to stack my vocals and make harmonies when I record. This EP was kind of random, It was about not thinking too much and just going with the flow. Law of attraction is something that sticks to you when you hear it. I felt that confidence & speaking things to life was necessary for me while making this tape so I put those vibes in there.

Lee: My fourth question was ‘What does the “Law of Attraction” mean to you?’ But you pretty much answered that. I noticed there was a lot of talk about your future and where you see yourself. You been speaking things into existence a lot lately?

Rob: I can give you one more answer to that, not only do you gotta speak it but you gotta walk in it! get cocky a little bit, ain’t nothing wrong with it. I feel like my future very bright, long as I stay down and committed. I’ve been planting these seeds you feel me? Just watching em grow now.

Lee: Understood. There’s a certain sense of confidence that comes off of a great artist, and it comes way before the accolades. What should we be looking out for next from Robtwo?

Rob: More features, more videos & way more full length projects and EP’s also. I’ve been working on new merch too as well, just tryna take over every aspect of the game and grow. I just wanna show the kids in the city they can do it too without selling drugs or diving in houses. Just stay tuned for the growth, shit gone be dope as hell!
