Of all the things that young, up and coming artists theorize you need to have in order to, “make it,” perhaps nothing is more important than work ethic. While talent used to help carry artists through the storm, the internet has made attentions spans incredibly small by constantly providing other options to consumers. Meaning, if you don’t already have an established brand, a few moments of deviation could lose you what you had built up to that point. Hailing from Sacramento, rising artist Young Reek understands this perfectly. After dropping 20 videos and 6projects throughout 2020, he returns to the table with his intriguing new project, Sex, Money & Percocets 2.

Clocking in at 14-tracks, the 39-minute affair is a high-octane, fast-paced journey that finds Young Reek leaving no stone unturned. Sticking to the notion that the title suggests, the project finds Reek wrestling through his mind as he ponders his life in many different ways. On, “Hear Me Cry” and “Letter to My Lil’ Nigga,” we get to see him let his guard down a bit, choosing to let the listeners know a bit more about his personal life. Conversely, he spends most of the rest of the album flexing on his opponents in a clever and gracious manner, as evidenced by, “Cars, Clothes & Hoes,” one of the clear standouts on the project.

Take a listen to the project below and get familiar with one of Sacramento’s hardest working emcees.
