Prior to the last decade, the idea that liking anime and wanting to become a rapper at the same time could work wasn’t even a notion that most people could even fathom. Luckily, rising rapper Gameboy Jones isn’t most people, as his love of both Hip-Hop and Anime were obvious from the start. After breaking through by creating a few homages to popular characters, Jones developed his style into something easier to digest — and market — resulting in a slew of TikTok mini-hits that have solidified him in that particular sub-genre. Looking to take it a step forward, he checks into our pages with his engaging new single, “Tsunade.”

Serving as a tribute to the popular ‘Naruto’ character in name only, “Tsunade,” is a sexually driven record that finds Gameboy Jones recruiting Ham Sandwich, Mir Blackwell and Cilvanis for the ride. One of the most engaging and apparent things to notice about the record is the sheer amount of fun they’re all having over the colorful production from PRODSUPREME. Kicking things off with an infectious verse by Ham, he’s followed by quirky 16s from Mir and Jones, highlighted by the line, “Met a tall lady, mounted her like a tv,” which, really, captures the essence of this record in one-line.

In all, the quick-witted posse cut is fun and engaging while also showcasing the progress made by Gameboy Jones. While he’s still doing tributes to his favorite Anime characters, the songs have the potential to serve as so much more. Take a listen to the single below and get familiar with Gameboy Jones.
