Philly Emcee, IHATEYOUSHEED Drops Energetic Debut

First off, shout out to Philly! The city of brotherly love has been engrained in the founding fabrics of hip hop from the beginning. And ever since then, it makes it’s resurgence to the forefront every few years and gives us an artist we can champion to carry the Non-NYC east coast flag. Philadelphia’s newest superhero, IHATEYOUSHEED, carries that very flag on his debut album ‘I Died Today’.
The 8 track project starts with a bang. 1.5 seconds into pressing play, IHATEYOUSHEED starts firing off, giving confident raps about family, mortality, and finances. He effortlessly glides over heavy 808 production and weaves his clever wordplay in between every beat. He also shows his affinity for hit making, as the Andrea Valle & Kari Faux assisted “Girls That Like To Smoke” is a sleek R&B-inspired ode to Mary Jane, and it’s FIRE. The three song run from this song on is one of my favorite parts of the project, as IHATEYOUSHEED gives us quotable lyrics & memorable melodies that paint vivid colors on “Red” & “Blue”, the latter featuring Atlanta hip hop legend KEY!.
