Massachusetts artist, Jxylen steps onto the VeryBad radar with a menacing new single, “Hannibal”. With dark, intricate lyrics and a haunting beat to match Jxylen releases the perfect theme music for Halloween 2019.

The song begins with a eery piano loop and a vocal sample of Hannibal Lecter himself from the film Silence Of The Lambs, of which the title of the track is derived. Jxylen spits off the rip with explosive imagery, every line painting vivid scenes for the listener to imagine surrounding him. Even the subtle bars are clever, like “God don’t like ugly, so don’t speak unless you’re my speed,” which might go over your head first listen, but is a top tier quotable at second glance. Over the chilling October instrumental, our newfound East coast storyteller gives sinister tales about dismembering his competition as if he were an actual rap cannibal. The best part of Jxylen’s lyrical prowess is that his sharp wordplay is accompanied by his introspectiveness. He ends the song with a ominous chant, “Tried to touch the sky but you can’t stand us. Tired of feeling low so I just stand up,” which feels like a deeper look into the mind of the Massachusetts rapper, outside of the visual that his retelling of “Hannibal” creates.

With razor sharp writing like that, I have no doubt in Jxylen dropping forthcoming music that’ll grace the blogosphere again Stream “Hannibal” below and stay updated with Jxylen & VeryBad Magazine.
