As a writer, critic, or whatever you want to call us, I’m always a bit more biased towards music videos with some kind of story. It doesn’t even have to be a crazy story, nor one with an actual guideline, but utilizing a theme to make the experience as a whole more engaging is essentially what music videos are for. So for me, it’s always a treat whenever Las Vegas stoner-rapper, Chief DVB drops a new video, because I know that means new shenanigans are on the way. Never the one to disappoint, he delivers in his new video for, “Mission.”

Directed by Keene Dadian, “Mission,” centers around what looks like Chief playing as The Chosen One, Neo, as he’s being filmed rapping on top of a parking garage, similar to the one where Neo dodges those bullets in The Matrix. Completing his mission and ending it with a request to be sent home via The Motherboard — also the name of his EP, clever right? All of this is soundtracked to incredibly infectious production from Paqboy Grazi and elite stoner raps from Chief, himself.

Growing as an artist, this is probably my favorite release from Chief in some time, which is saying something. Take a peek at the video below and get familiar with Las Vegas’ cinematic son.
