Heavy lyrical imagery, dark production with powerful drumbeats, & a strong silky voice. All the components of a wonderful R&B record, and they all come together on Las Vegas artist IAmGift3d’s new single “Can’t Sleep”.

First listen I loved this record, but truthfully it took me a few days to understand why. Its clear to me now: this track is like an audio-visual sensory experience. From the start of the song we are invited into a world of our own imagination, guided by IAmGift3d.

“Wings of a butterfly; soft sounds of a heart beat; a scorned lover in a red dress”

-are the first words spoken, and from there it’s clear that this piece isn’t only meant to be heard, but drawn in a mental picture. The constant thud of the drums create their own heartbeat; you aren’t just listening to his words, you’re feeling them and enduring his emotions as they come. These are the things that keep IAmGift3d awake at night, the reasons why he “Can’t Sleep”, and he makes sure that they etch and impression into your mind just like they did his. His “slice of heaven on silk a sheet” is merely the beast disguised as the beauty. A pretty face and a killer body almost manages to inspire our valiant songwriter to forget one thing: there’s a monster in his bed.

“Can’t Sleep” is a remarkably written, heartfelt record ready for R&B radio everywhere. With production by superproducer NICKVEEZEE (of The Baka Boyz) and a strong team of support behind it, this song can go the distance. Stream “Can’t Sleep” below and keep a lookout for more from IAmGift3d.
