Guapdad 4000 Unleashes His Surprising Debut Album

To be completely honest, I didn’t know what to expect for Oakland rapper Guapdad 4000’s debut album. After Instagram antics with his superstar friend Drake, & interviews leaning toward more toward the logistics of being a scammer than an artist, I regrettably wrote Guapdad off as more of an entertaining personality than a serious emcee. Here I am eating my words, as his new release, “Dior Deposits”, shocks in all the best ways possible.

The album starts off with a bang, as Guapdad flexes his vocal growth on opening track “Doing Too Much” with Slimmy B of SOB X RBE. Other early songs such as the Tory Lanez-assisted “Stuck With It”, and his Chance The Rapper x Charlie Wilson-assisted “Gucci Pajamas” prove the Oakland artist to be hip-hops newest hitmaker. He reaches back to his Bay Area roots with features from E-40, G-Eazy, Mozzy, & Nef the Pharoah on the following tracks. This album is a complete time capsule of 2019, with a range of sounds & topics ranging everywhere from romance, to credit card scamming, to Fashion Nova. Guapdad’s only two solo tracks, “Iced Out Gold Chain” & “Can’t Stop Finessing”, are his most personal and organic, as he slices through with creative riffs and comedic punchlines that only he can deliver in such a melodic way.
