As an artist, the best thing you can do when dealing with a rough situation is to try and harness that energy and turn it into something therapuetic. Hailing from Philly by way of NYC, rising artist C.H.I. understands that notion perfectly. After dealing with a death in the family, he used a relationship to help bring his spirits back up, only to find out that wasn’t a viable option, and, it was being done to him as well. Looking to explore those emotions in a healthy way, he checks in with his brand new EP, Unloving You Pt. 1: HONEYMOON.

At 4-tracks, the EP is a smooth, quick listen that encourages multiple replays. Kicking off with an aptly placed sample from New Edition classic record, “Can You Stand the Rain?,” the tone of the project is immediately set with the intro, as C.H.I. eagerly attacks once the drums drop. As he navigates through the project, each song represents different relationships in his life, with the overarching theme seeming to be about the process of shaking yourself from those relationships. Utilizing production from Cedes, Vitals and more, he displays a slick, calculated flow as he fits seamlessly over the production, most notably on, “The Vibe,” which finds him sounding the most comfortable. Overall the cohesiveness of the project helps to drive the theme home, and helps make the 14-minutes feel like a therapeutic breeze.

Take a listen to the EP below and get familiar with the Philly lyricist.
