Chuck Brilliant Surpasses All Expectations On His High-Octane New Project, ‘The Road Added Pressure (TRAP)’
One of the more exciting collectives to sprout up in the last year has been Chances Make Bosses. Hailing from different areas like Indiana, Ohio and Detroit, CMB has carved a lane for themselves, coming together in Las Vegas and providing the West Coast a different flavor. Comprised of Richie Bux, Silent 313 and Chuck Brilliant as emcees and PERFECT10 (7sent & 3AMSOUNDS) behind the boards, the collective has put out a consistent stream of quality music, endearing themselves to fans of the hustle. Looking to further establish himself, Columbus native Chuck Brilliant takes his turn and releases his highly-anticipated new project, The Road Added Pressure (TRAP).
Known for his painfully accurate takes on everyday life as a hustler, Chuck doubles down on that identity on TRAP. Comprised of 10-songs, the project effectively serves simultaneously as a semi autobiography and an all out showcase of ability. On the albums bookends, “Wolf,” and “Afterlife,” he gets a bit more personal, ditching features and mainstream appeal to deliver poignant, necessary looks at who he is as a person. As he develops more as an artist, it’s going to be exciting to see the new ways he looks to tell those stories, which mostly include tales about life on the road and how he was able to overcome the struggle.
Though Chuck might be at his best when he raps solo, like anybody, he’s even more exciting when he gets a chance to rap with his friends. Featuring collaborations from all of CMB, as well a rare guest verse from Mikey PX, Chuck spends time on songs like, “Kitchen,” and the perfectly titled, “Sha Carri” having the time of his life. Utilizing pristine production from PERFECT10, you can hear the sheer joy in Chuck’s voice as he goes bar for bar with the artists he’s deemed worthy.
