Oceanside, California is often one of those cities that gets mistaken, or even grouped into another, larger city — San Diego. The notion that they’re the same, though, couldn’t be further from the truth. More industrial and residential than it’s glitzy counterpart, Oceanside is home to the real community of San Diego county, complete with historically great High School Football rivalries and all. One person fighting to make sure any and everybody knows the different is native rapper, Dialect, who makes his affinity for the city known on his brand new EP, Smoking in Tha Rain.

At 5-tracks, the EP is without a doubt no more than a teaser of Dialect’s work, but it is an awesome exploration of his talent and background. Produced entirely by ROK$, the project does a great job of sticking to it’s theme, which is to essentially a personal therapy session for Dialect as he syphons through his emotions with clever bars and impressive cadence switches, culminating in the project’s standout track, “E V E R Y Where.”

Take a listen to the project below and be sure to get familiar with Oceanside’s favorite son.
