There are countless ways to carve a lane for yourself in music. In fact, I’d probably guess that making music is the toughest job to crack right now, at least if you’re trying to be a vocalist. Therefore, you have to get in where you fit in, and make your presence known. That’s exactly what rising producers/engineers, Z-God & Drip Gold did with one of the hottest studios in So Cal, The Z Room. With everybody and their mother recording there, the duo has built a nice network of friends, and they decide to double down on that. Calling on AzBenzz and Big $wift for vocal assistance, they release their debut single, “Complicated.”

Utilizing a well-placed sample from Usher — “You Make Me Wanna” — the production is bubbly and infectious, creating an easy lane for $wift and Benzz to skate on. The former delivers one of his better vocal performances in recent months, as the latter spices up the track with a bit of flair. In today’s game, where everything is looked at under a microscope, it’s always awesome when the production and vocals equally hold up, as it makes for a special record.
