The journey to one’s debut album is never easy. Not only do you have to relive some of the most trying moments of your life, either good or bad, you also have to find somebody who wants to help you bring those moments to the masses. The journey often includes hunger, homelessness, self-depreciation and more often than not, a combination of the three plus more. Landing in L.A. from Arkansas — as well as a stint in New Zealand — Def Jam signee GOON DES GARÇON dealt with all of the aforementioned issues — and still made it out on the other side. Battle tested and ready, he unveils his exciting debut album, SHEESH!

SHEESH! arrives as a liquor-stained memoir that caught Goon’s Los Angeles landing in cinematic snapshots. Auto-Tuned tales of sleepless nights begin with bottle service on Sunset Strip, segue into a detour to the strip club, and end up in the recording studio at sunrise. Goon rhymes his direct, emotive lyrics alongside Na-Kel (check out the “Bully” video) and Cuco (“a24”). Goon worked with producers Swiff D (Schoolboy Q, Logic) and Idle Kid (longtime collaborator and fellow Arkansan) to create what he calls “peaceful chaos.”

Goon paved the way for the release of SHEESH! with a pair of innovative, critically acclaimed three-song ‘bundles’ on Def Jam. 5AM (released June 4th) features Fredo on the title track + video “5AM”; Laflare (on “JFC”); and Chip (on “Ride”). Goon’s small-town ambition came across, along with the inherent soul-searching quality that’s gotten him this far.
